  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Oh my. I totally made an audible squeak when I saw the picture of the little itty bit of Frankness...

I've gone non-verbal.

Claire, he was SO EFFING SMALL once that we actually thought about putting him in a hamster ball so as not to step on him and end up in a circle of hell so awful Dante hadn't even conceived of it.

Happy birthday, Mr. Frank. You are a good soul - friend of the awesome, foe of the squirrel, and all-around bad-ass. Three cheers!

Aw, total sweetie pie! Happy Birthday, Frankie!

Oh Natasha, I KNOW! It's hard for me to look at his earliest pictures and not go non-verbal. I can't believe it's him. I can't believe he was that freaking adorable. I mean, he's a handsome cat, but that fluffball was too much cute.
